Train Disruption, Traffic Jam's, Chaos Chaos

As there was no one to take care of my son for the past 3 days I took leave & sat back at home. Lucky no. Yes, truly. Yesterday there was a problem at Kurla station (Mumbaikar's would know). Rail services at Central & Harbor railway got disrupted. There was a lot of chaos amongst the commuters traveling by the railway line. To reach their work places, people took the roadways & hence even the roadways got jammed. It took at least minimum of 2-3 hours & even more for the people to reach their places of work. I loved it as I was on leave. But today while writing this blog, I am stuck in the traffic. I am back to work. Railway services are not yet fully recovered with 25% trains still out of order. Lucky but not lucky enough.

Such incidences are common in Mumbai. Such things keep happening with the city & its residents. Floods, traffic jams, accidents, railway services out of order, rickshaw / taxi strike, hike in rickshaw / taxi meter fees, terrorism, religious riots etc are just a few to name. These things keep happening in Mumbai & her people are very much used to it.

It is a common thing to get stuck in the traffic either vehicular or human traffic. It is a common saying that stand on the CST railway platform, you do not have to take any efforts to walk, you automatically reach the destination - i.e. out of the station.

But just a few days back, I read in the newspaper that a man in his early 20's died  while riding his bike in an extremely high speed. The high speeding bike hit a hard surface, the man swung in the air a few meters above the ground & fell down. He was take to a hospital by 2 of his friends but declared dead on arrival. He is survived by his family, in - laws & his 3 month pregnant wife. This incident occurred at morning hours after 12 am a few days back near Sidhivinayak temple. Who would imagine such an incident or rather such an accident occurring in Mumbai whose streets are almost always jammed with vehicles & humans. Yes, it did occur in the wee hours of morning, but 'It Happened In Mumbai'.

2 contrasting events, occurring in Mumbai over the same period of past 2 - 3 days.

My message to all the young people:

  • Have patience.
  • Speed thrills but kills.
