Indian Hindi Television

I was heading towards the station with my husband, when we waited for the signals to open. While I was waiting, I saw on the backside of a BEST bus, a hoarding of a daily newspaper, DNA. It read like this, MUMBAI DARSHAN, SLUM DARSHAN, TERRORISM DARSHAN. Following this was written the newspaper's name.

Now seriously, I am getting bored of people around me. I am bored about listening about their boring talks. Talks like, 'Nothing can happen in this country' or 'Anything can happen in this country', 'These bloody politicians, they are good for nothing, that is why we don't vote for them'. But recently, more so after my husband came in my life, I started hearing the same raga about Indian cinema, especially Bollywood. That Bollywood is nothing but a shit, a mere copy of Hollywood. For this I say, na re na na 50 - 50.I am only bored of the views & only the views. Much views have been expressed Bollywood & Hindi cinema.  Here is an analysis on Indian Hindi Television.

Take the example of Hindi television. There was a time when serials like Malgudi Days, Ramayana, Mahabharata (both by Ramanand Sagar), Chanakya, Buniyaad, Nukad etc etc used to be telecasted. There was only Doordarshan & people used to stick to their television around 9.00  - 9.30 pm.

But with the advent of these newer soap operas, I felt like murdering Ekta Kapoor. All her serials like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki & others were good to start with but then everybody knows how pathetically it went on & on & on. I was waiting & I guess many would also be waiting, at the time of these serials that Ekta Kapoor should die of sudden cardiac arrest, at least after this these serials would die too. These serials lost the charm the doordarshan serials had.

When multiple channels started emerging, a serial like Tara came up. It was based on the topic of extra-marital relationships. Started very nicely but then again did not continue nicely. Then came a serial which I liked & which was nice from start to end. Directed by Neena Gupta, who also acted in the serial. But then good things end faster as bad serials need draging. This serial had a good timely ending. But the real tragedy is, it once came in newspaper, that Neena Gupta tried new projects but there were no buyers.

The first serial Hum Log was nice. Nice acting, meaningful concept. But serials nowadays don't match the standards of this serial.

Where are these creative concepts going? Why where people more strong, more creative in the past? With the advent of technology where is the creativity? Things are getting diluted. Above was a short analysis of past & present in soap operas in Hindi television. Lots is still remaining to be written.

Initially, there were good comedy serials. Zabaan Sambhalke, was one such serial which used to come on doordarshan. Very nice comedy, in which Pankaj Kapoor, teaches Hindi language to a group of people who don't know that language & thus the comedy begins.

Then when came multiple channels,  a serial called Hum Paanch started. It had a unique concept, good characters & nice acting & comedy. But then its subsequent seasons failed to entertain. Many of the original actors had been replaced & the fun vanished.

Then came the laughter challenge which clearly proved that if you fail to be successful in your profession you can at least laugh it out. Season one was good but slowly it became monotonous.

The detective serial Karamchand in which Pankaj Kapoor was the lead. Nice detective serial but subsequent series were not so good.

Many daily serials or operas were good in the past but have to create the magic in today's times.

Reality shows especially the dance & singing shows are rotting my brains of here again you would find the difference between the original ones like Boogie Woogie & Sa Re Ga Ma Pa & the current cocktails.

Fear Factor used to come on one of the channels, with Hussain Kuwjerwala as the host but gained popularity with Akshay Kumar as the host. Part 1 was better than part 2. But in general very nice. Lets see how much level would be maintained with Priyanka Chopra as the host.

Coming back to our DNA add which I mentioned in the very start. India has really got talent. Talent existed  in the past & is still present. Do not project the bad aspects of Mumbai & India as this newspaper & most people do. Do not indulge in the blame game. The intensity with which badness comes out, with so much talent, let creativity, talent & goodness spread for a better progress of our country. Let us all Indians, in all the fields, progress. Let us be creative & kick plagiarism away.
