A very rich place called bank

Whenever we hear the word bank we always think of money bank. By saying "I am going to bank", we mean that we go to an organization were money transactions are done.

1) Money banks are places were money transactions are done. Money is deposited, withdrawn, saved, invested etc etc. Everybody is aware about this bank & knows how it works.

But there are various other types of banks which many people may not be aware of. Hope I can give some insight on these banks.

2) Blood bank :- It is a place where blood of various blood groups (A, B, AB, O) & various Rh factors are stored. The blood is examined for various infections to avoid infections to the patients. The blood stored in these banks are used in various medical, surgical & emergency conditions. The blood is available through out the day & in some blood banks it is available even at night times (day & night service).

3) Milk bank :- We all know the importance of breast milk. Breast milk is very very useful to a newborn term & pre-term baby. It provides the babies with nutrients & immunity to fight against infections not only during the childhood but the immunity & development is provided for life. Breast feeding also increases the bond between the mother & the child & the baby recognizes the mother faster. Breast feeding is also helpful for the mother, in a sense that the uterus returns to its normal size faster, it protects the mother from the risk of breast cancer & it is also said that it protects the mother from a consecutive, next, repetitive pregnancy.

But certain times a mother cannot breast feed her child due to lack of milk production & expression.

A human milk bank is a service which collects, screens, processes & dispenses milk on prescription human milk donated by nursing mothers who are not biologically related to the nursing infant. According to Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), recommend that the best food for the infant is milk & those babies who cannot breast feed due to certain reasons can be fed milk expressed from the biological mothers breast or milk expressed from a healthy donar.

The milk is screened for any infections, properly sterilized, and stored so as to be dispensed on prescription to the appropriate recepient. Milk bank is present in many places but one such bank present in Mumbai is at Sion hospital.

4) Skin banks :- In these banks skin is stored and given to patients who have severe burns. Such skin is grafted on the patients body so as to reduce the chances of infection in the patient, promote natural healing in the patient & help speedy recovery in patients. It also helps in relieving the patient of the terrible pain.

Such banks present all over the world, but in Mumbai one of the places where skin bank is present is the Sion hospital.

The skin grafted is not permanent as it is naturally replaced by the natural skin. The donar is first screened of various diseases & various others factors analyzed and the only is allowed to donate the skin.

Skin donation is done under the Bombay Anatomy Act.

5) Eye bank :- Eyesight is the most important human function. No doubt eyesight not only helps to visualize an object but contributes in facial expressions.

But there are very unfortunate few who are not gifted with this wonderful part of the body called eye or loose their eyesight due to certain reasons.

People can donate their eyes during their life, obviously the eyes (cornea) will be removed only after their death.

Again the donor is screened prior to donation of his eyes & cornea removed shortly after the natural death of the donor.

Many famous Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachhan, Jaya Bachhan. Aishwarya Rai Bachhan etc have donated their eyes for the betterment of others.

6) River / water bank :- This bank I guess everybody knows. Obviously, this is the place where anyone would like to sit & have fun watching the water beyond.
